Problem statement

Mental health care is not scaling despite growing demand because the ecosystem lacks skilled people - and the people who are trained do not get enough practice. Training today focuses heavily on knowledge acquisition and far less on real conversational skill. The result is a system where demand for care grows, but collective capability does not.

Impact story details

Ally (incubated at ACT Grants) is a non-profit, open-source initiative focused on amplifying human care in mental health. Established in November 2025 as the Ally for Mental Health Foundation, the organization was created in response to a critical systems challenge: India does not have enough trained mental health professionals to adequately support the mental well-being of its 1.4 billion people.
